May 15, 2008 from Joan:
Dear Praying Partners,
I would like to thank everyone for your prayers, cards, email, love & concern during the time of my surgery.
I had my surgery Friday (4/25) and have done real well. I haven’t had much pain. I was taken into surgery early & the surgery was approximately 1 hour. Everyone who went to the hospital with me thought they would be back home early. However, it took 4 hours for me to wake up. They have been teasing me that the grandchildren must have worn me out before surgery & this was my only opportunity to catch some sleep, which I took advantage of. (HAHA) My dad volunteered to come back and wake me…he got tired of waiting, but they wouldn’t let him.
I am still doing very well…I am blessed to have recuperated so quickly. I think I am ready to drag those (2)50lb suit cases around. I am scheduled to return to Africa May 21st.
Teams have started coming & one will be there when I arrive. I will probably land with my feet running.
I will be returning back to Zimba May 21st 2008.

April 6, 2008: Joan is still in the states and will have gall bladder surgery near the end of April. Please pray for her quick recovery. She spoke at Smith Chapel Wesleyan in Liberty, SC this AM and presented a PowerPoint show. The needs, the answers to prayers, and the "just in time" supply incidents that she described left no one with a dry eye. We have so much in the USA and appreciate it so little. Please ask God what He would have you do to help with His work in Zimba, Zambia.
Feb. 2008: Joan was flown to the states by a church in Iowa for a Mission Conference and then through SC to visit with her family on her way back to Zambia. While stateside, she had a gall bladder attack; she will try to have this corrected before she returns to Zambia.
Also, the money that was "stolen" - that was to purchase the hospital washing machine - has not been returned and the washing machine has not been purchases. Please pray earnestly for this matter.

We have taken down the oldest letters. We will soon be archiving them on a link here so you can access them by year. Thanks for your patience. We have also had to switch hosting companies and the site has been "out of sorts" for a while. Everything seems to be up and working again.
